Job Responsibilities

Welcome to a development-oriented and socially important assignment where you, as a business developer, will play a central role in strengthening and developing Malmö's business community. With us, you will become a key person in the city's work towards sustainable growth, innovation, and attractiveness, with a particular focus on the food system and the City of the Future.

The position is located at the city office, in the Department of External Affairs and Business, Unit of Innovation and Development. You will be part of a team that drives development processes and initiatives that strengthen Malmö's position as the sustainable food city of the future. The work is carried out in close cooperation with the city's administrations, businesses, academia, and other external actors at local, regional, and in some cases international levels.

In the role of business developer, you will primarily work as a process leader and be responsible for initiating, driving, and following up on activities, processes, and projects within your area of responsibility. Focus areas may change over time based on new needs and priorities.

As a business developer, you will:

Project lead selected initiatives within the framework of the City of the Future
Strengthen and further develop the city's cross-administrative work related to the food system
Identify areas with potential for sustainability, growth, and innovation and initiate targeted efforts
Create structures, processes, and pilot projects that drive system change
Lead mobilization activities, workshops, and collaborations with businesses and other actors
Actively work with analysis, environmental monitoring, and the development of relevant decision-making materials
Drive application processes for EU funding and other public financing and ensure qualitative project implementation

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

A university degree in innovation management, entrepreneurship, economics, industrial management, business, or a similar related field.
Experience in business development, project management, or similar
Extensive experience in innovation or development work within the business sector
Experience in independently driving and being responsible for larger projects and processes with multiple parties
Well acquainted with the complex contexts and processes where business, society, and research meet
Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

It is advantageous if you have:

A basic understanding of the structure of the food system and ongoing transformation
Experience with international contacts and collaborations
The ability to build and develop larger networks
Good knowledge of the business community and the regional business and innovation support system

You work in a structured manner, independently, and with a clear overall perspective, while also having an ease in creating and developing relationships.
